Toulouse known as the Ville Rose ("Pink City")
Friday, February 01, 2008 | Monthly Theme, Public Building with 23 comments »
The warm glow of red bricks and tiles gives Toulouse its nickname, "La ville rose" (the pink city).
Toulouse was the home of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (1900-1944), most famous for his book Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince).

Ville Rose? I never knew that!
And I used to walk by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's apartment in Paris (place Vauban) quite often.
What a beautiful evening scene! Le Petit Prince... Oh, the memories...
Have a nice theme day. :)
Ah, well I have a copy of The Little Prince on my shelves here. La Ville Rose is a gorgeous thing to be known by.
Which is probably a better thing to know Toulouse by than an old, forgotten anglophone joke about French cities not to buy clothes in:Toulouse (too loose) and Toulon (too long)
Or Toulouse-Lautrec.
the pink city! how lovely!
I guess Jakarta would have to be a grey city because of its heavy polution! :)
Good job you are doing that - I would have looked for a sausage to photograph
Looks like a great square to sit and enjoy a cafe.
Two facts I didn't know, thanks for the little history lesson.
La ville rose, absolument! Et Nougaro...
Oh that is beautiful!!!
I have always wanted to visit it...
Who knows? One of these days :)
I didn't know if it would be the canal, violets or the bricks. Lovely, lovely shot, feels like I'm there. Thank you.
Very pink!
That looks so cozy and inviting.
Very lovely!
Pink or red buildings give such a warm glow. Must be beautiful there.
Beautiful photo! Happy Theme Day!
A pink city?! Love it! Happy Theme Day from Maui, Hawaii.
I absolutely love this time of day with light both natural and artificial. And I liked the Little Prince.
Wonderful photo. Love the red bricks.

Your photo does indeed glow. The use of lighting is an important element.
This is beautiful and has lots of history. Then I just looked at the date and today is actually March 1st :) and there is no graffiti. Have a great week-end.
